The park’s name, Kaixo Corner (pronounced kie-sho), uses the Basque word for “hello,” reflecting both its historic ties to the Basque community and the broader theme of honoring many immigrant cultures.
This small neighborhood park offers a welcoming spot to gather, complete with places to sit, lighting, and a compact stage. Artwork throughout the space recognizes and celebrates Boise’s long history of immigration.
Situated on a 0.21-acre site at 521 W Grove Street, the park borders Boise’s famed Basque Block. The location once held a boardinghouse run by the Letemendi family for nearly 40 years, providing a temporary home to many Basque immigrants. Over the decades, people from Japan, China, Ireland, Germany, and numerous other countries also settled in the nearby area, creating a diverse blend of traditions, languages, and cuisine.
The project was realized through a partnership between the City of Boise and the Capital City Development Corporation, the city’s urban renewal agency.
Kaixo Corner is not a reservable park site, it is available for drop-in use. If you are interested in obtaining access to power for a special event, please contact us.
